After separation, it produces a very large surface energy and has a strong tendency to re-flocculate (back to coarse). The role of the carbon black dispersant is to reduce the surface tension between the carbon black and the binder by adsorbing on the surface of the carbon black, so that the carbon black can be well wetted by the binder.
